I love freshly baked buns, and the frozen ones from the grocery store are convenient, delicious, and easy to spice up for a meal. I love the simplicity of prepping them before work and being able to bake them with dinner when I get home from work.
Ingredients:
12-16 frozen dinner buns, depending on the size of your dish. (i.e. for a 9" x 13", use all 16)
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 Tbsp. basil
1/2 Tbsp. granulated garlic
1/2 Tbsp. oregano
1/2 Tbsp. rosemary
1/2 Tbsp. thyme
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 200 F.
2. Place frozen buns in a bag. I like using an old produce bag from the grocery store.
3. Mix spices in a small bowl and set aside.
4. Melt butter and then stir into the spices, ensuring it is well mixed,
5. Pour butter and spice mixture into the bag and rub all over the buns, ensuring seasoning gets on all sides of the buns.
6. Turn the oven off.
7. Put the buns into a baking dish and place a wet, clean kitchen towel over the dish.
8. Place the dish in the oven and let buns rise for about 8 hours.
9. Remove the towel from the dish, heat the oven to 350 F, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
